Meet The Owner
Tealia Torres
Tealia Torres is a dedicated career cosmetologist and the owner of Modern Hair Designs Inc., which she established in 1996. With over 25 years of experience, Tealia is a licensed cosmetology teacher and barber manager, offering apprenticeship programs aimed at developing the next generation of stylists, barbers, estheticians, and beauty industry professionals. She is committed to mentoring and equipping young talent with the transferable skills they need to become well-rounded entrepreneurs in the beauty field.
A passionate supporter of youth development, Tealia partners annually with the Urban Affairs Coalition’s Summer Work Ready Program to secure summer employment for Philadelphia youth, guiding them toward meaningful careers.
Tealia’s accomplishments extend to leadership roles in several organizations, reflecting her dedication to the profession and community. She serves as a board member of the Pennsylvania Women’s Empowerment Initiative and the Occupational Advisory Committee for the cosmetology program at Murrell Dobbins High School. Her influence and mentorship have left a lasting impact on both her clients and the broader beauty community.
